Speaking Out in Public Spaces - A Successful Evening

June 15, 2016

The Department of Geography held a successful panel discussion on “Speaking Out in Public Spaces”, on Monday June 6th, 2016 at SFU Harbour Centre Campus.  The audience was diverse in age and interests.

Panelists included five Vancouver activists: Janine Fuller, Gwen Howart, Pat Hogan, Jamie-Lee Hamilton and Ellen Woodsworth.  This panel was moderated by students from GEOG 489 (Queer Geography), a course in which students are invited to consider the location, nature, and definition of queer space, its history, memories, events and subcultures, and the relationship between space and social justice.
