My research work focuses on computer graphics and computer vision.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?

I chose SFU because its Computing Science program has a very good ranking all over the world.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESEARCH.

Nowadays, digital data (including images and 3D shapes) is used throughout our lives. My research focuses on how to analyze this data, and how to use computing to generate useful information that can be applied to daily life, such as image recognition and 3D shape organization.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?

I enjoy the convenience, comfortable facilities, and friendly people at SFU.

HAVE YOU BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF ANY MAJOR OR DONOR-FUNDED AWARDS? IF SO, PLEASE TELL US WHICH ONES AND HOW THE AWARDS HAVE IMPACTED YOUR STUDIES AND/OR RESEARCH.

I am very happy to win the Graduate Dean's Entrance Scholarship (GDES) from SFU; it is an honor and recognition for my research work. My research focuses on 3D shape analysis and I already published some papers on relevant international academic conferences, such as SIGGRAPH and CVPR. Thanks to SFU's award, my life will be easier in the following years because I can focus on my research and study.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PROGRAM TO SOMEONE STILL SEARCHING FOR A PROGRAM?

SFU's PhD programs provide many resources to support students' research. I strongly recommend students to come to SFU and start an exciting student life.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PROSPECTIVE GRADUATE STUDENTS?

Admission to SFU is competitive — please prepare for it early.
