Primarily, I am a sports enthusiast. Sports is where I found my love for statistics and data analysis. Since about five years, most of my educational and professional pursuits have been about engaging with data analytics, especially in the context of various sports like Cricket, Baseball, and Basketball. It is a field I enjoy working in and a pursuit that allows me to combine my personal hobbies with my professional goals.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?

Simon Fraser University has one of the most data-centric Economics programs in Canada. It is both rigorous and demanding but has proven to equip its graduate students with real-world skills over the years, especially in data analytics.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESEARCH AND/OR PROGRAM.

It is a challenging year-long Economics program that focuses on teaching about the applications of the field in the real world, with a special focus on Mathematics and Data Analysis.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?

Despite the challenges of this year, the Economics department at SFU has been very motivating for its graduate students. I am particularly enjoying courses where I can work with data directly and learn more about current techniques being used in various industries for generating useful information from data.

HAVE YOU BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF ANY MAJOR OR DONOR FUNDED AWARDS?

Special Graduate Entrance Scholarship.
