"The SIAT program is the perfect blend of computer science and design. I believe this kind of interdisciplinary knowledge guides my worldview and I believe is the perfect plate to increase my knowledge."
Student Profile: Eneas Holanda Arrais
School of Interactive Arts and Technology master's student in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology
I'm an international person by living, I have lived in Brazil, England, France, the USA and now Canada. I love to travel and meet new people and places. I have a blackbelt in Judo and really interested in martial arts and sports in general. I really like going on nature trips and meeting new places. In my free time, I love to cook, play indie games and watch award-winning movies.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
The SIAT program is the perfect blend of computer science and design. I believe this kind of interdisciplinary knowledge guides my worldview and I believe is the perfect plate to increase my knowledge.
How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?
As a designer, I believe our main goal is understanding human needs and finding ways to solve their issues. Specifically, I believe in the power of technology to be aligned with human goals and that almost anything could be made better and easier with it.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
I particularly enjoy the diverse environment of the university and learning about all the different people and research that is being made on it.
Have you been the recipient of any major or donor-funded awards? If so, please tell us which ones and a little about how the awards have impacted your studies and/or research.
I was blessed to receive a Graduate Fellowship for Fall 2021. That fellowship money insured that I could focus on my arrival and my courses in the first term without the need to find a different source of funding.
