Geography master's student in the Faculty of Environment

I love spending time with my son and partner, especially doing things outside - hiking, camping, paddle boarding.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?

I completed my undergraduate degree at SFU in 2020, and wanted to continue studying here.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?

I'm studying digital soil mapping, and am part of a project that is looking at the spatial distribution of soil carbon. In particular, I am evaluating pedotransfer functions, which use soil attributes to estimate other, unknown soil attributes.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?

I have found the professors to be very warm, engaged and supportive, and it has made my experience at SFU a positive one.

HAVE YOU BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF ANY MAJOR OR DONOR-FUNDED AWARDS? IF SO, PLEASE TELL US WHICH ONES AND A LITTLE ABOUT HOW THE AWARDS HAVE IMPACTED YOUR STUDIES AND/OR RESEARCH.

The Special Graduate Entrance Scholarship that I received when I started my MSc helped me through my first semester. I recently received an NSERC CGSM which not only made me feel like what I'm doing is valuable, but also the financial support enables me to spend more time on research.
