It Happens Here - Town Hall on Sexual Assault Prevention & Support Services at SFU

Tuesday, March 22nd

4:30-6:30 PM

Halpern Centre 126

As part of the campaign to support the creation of a Sexual Assault Prevention & Support Centre (SAPSC) at SFU, the SFPIRG Street Team is hosting a Town Hall on Tuesday, March 22 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Halpern Center, room 126. Join us in exploring the issues around sexual assault, rape culture, and the need for sexual assault support centres in our community.

At this event, a group of panelists will be speaking about the work they are doing around the issue of sexual assault. As of now, here is a list of our confirmed panelists (keep checking the Facebook page for more updates!):

Ashley Bentley - Manager at the AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre at UBC
Lara Campbell - Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies

After all the panelists have spoken, there will be a Q&A discussion period for members of the SFU community (and community at large) to discuss the issue of sexual assault, voice concerns or ask questions, and provide input about what resources or services people would like to see at an SFU SAPSC. At the end of the event, participants can add a personal pledge to a mural to show their support.

Referral support will be present for participants who may be triggered.
