Taiwan Studies Group

The Taiwan Studies Group (TSG) is a working group that brings together scholars and students who are interested in studying Taiwan through diverse methodological and disciplinary approaches. Aiming to enhance the understanding of Taiwan, we have a regular monthly series of brown bag lunch meetings for members and interested scholars to share ideas and experiences related to studying Taiwan. We also invite researchers, artists, and scientists to present in our Speaker Series to foster intellectual and scholarly conversations. With the growing community of Taiwan specialists at Simon Fraser University and in the Greater Vancouver Area, the group promises to serve as a vehicle to meet the professional interests of scholars from different fields.

We encourage faculty members, students, academics, and scholars who are working on or studying Taiwan to join as members. We particularly encourage scholars and students to present their works in progress and share innovative ideas and newly-discovered sources with our members. All disciplines and themes are welcome, including topics pertaining to the recent events in Taiwan. We also organize collective reading and discussion of new books, films, and fictions.

To join our group, please send an email to the Director, Dr. Weiting Guo (weitingg@sfu.ca).
