A panel discussion about the power of female fighters in Kurdistan from both the Canadian and Kurdish perspective.


Hanna Böhman, Tiger Sun, is a Canadian YPJ fighter who recently came back from Rojava, Kurdistan (Syria). She left her comfortable life as a model to join the fight against ISIS. She will share her story through photos and videos of her journey with the YPJ in the battle against ISIS. Her story is heroic and heart wrenching.

Nissy Koye, a Kurdish activist, has strived to create awareness towards fundamental Kurdish issues. She has organized many awareness campaigns and fundraiser initiatives to aid the millions of displaced people of Kurdistan. She will introduce the audience to powerful, captivating women who didn't let ISIS dictate their fate. A world where women are taking a direct stance against the barbaric acts of terrorism.
