SESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS REQUIRED

 

The Department of Humanities, an interdisciplinary department at SFU, requires Sessional Instructors during the FALL 2009 semester (September to December) to teach the following courses. All appointments are subject to budgetary approval and sufficient enrolment.

HUM 102W*-4 Classical Mythology (Surrey Campus)

HUM 130-3 Introduction to Religious Studies (NOW Program @ Harbour Centre)

HUM 202-3 Great Texts in the Humanities II (NOW Program @ Harbour Centre)

HUM 204-3 Great Religious Texts (Burnaby)

HUM 302W*-4 The Golden Age of Greece (NOW Program @ Harbour Centre)

HUM 303-4 The Latin Humanist Tradition (Burnaby)

HUM 321-4 Humanities & Critical Thinking (Integrated Studies Program @ Harbour Centre)

HUM 322-4 Humanities & the Critique of Culture (Burnaby)

 

*Note: Hum 102W and HUM 302W are writing intensive courses – feedback on studentsŐ written work is an essential part of the course grading requirements.

 

Qualifications:  A minimum of a Master's degree or PhD and/or outstanding teaching experience in the course area or topic and/or distinguished professional experience as detailed in the postings and in accordance with the current TSSU Collective Agreement (Article XIV,E.).

 

Please note that as an interdisciplinary department, Humanities gives consideration in its hiring decision to different or innovative ways in teaching the course topic. As such, applicants should be aware that a factor in the selection process will be the course outline which an applicant submits, indicating how they would present the course. Please contact the department to consult course outlines of past offerings of the course(s) to acquaint yourself with the focus of the course(s) in previous offerings and to help you determine how you may wish to present the material in future offerings.
