STUDENT POSTER COMPETITION
Students that participate will create a poster according to APRU FAP guidelines, and compete in a poster competition against other students. The academic research poster will be based on an approved abstract submission, and they will be displayed throughout the days of the conference.
Participants will have the opportunity to present, network, be provided with food and drinks, and will gain attendance for that day of the conference. Participants are responsible for their own accomodations.
Submissions will be assessed by the Conference Organizing Committee according to the judgement criteria, and winners are announced at the end of Day 2.
Eligibility & Participation
To be eligible for participation and enter the competition, you must meet the following requirements:
1. You are a student from APRU member institutions, as well as other Asia-specific collaborators
2. You choose and present a topic that is relevant to the conference themes.
3. You submit your topic by emailing fap_2026@sfu.ca with your Poster Title.
4. You submit a poster to fap_2026@sfu.ca by September 6, 2026 (11:59pm).
5. You register for the conference prior to the registration deadline of September 6, 2026 (11:59pm).
Please note: Submissions are accepted on a First-Come First-Serve basis and will not be entered as participants until registration is confirmed.

Poster Expectations
Posters will be assessed for a number of critera, however, they are expected to meet the following expectations:
- Clear research question/objective
- Methods/results/conclusion
- Visual communication emphasis
- Accessible to interdisciplinary/general audiences
- Use visuals/graphs over dense text
- Minimal jargon/plain language
- Proper citations and image credits
- Concise, attractive layouts
Poster Specifications
Poster submissions must meet the following requirements in order to be accepted:
- Posters must be submitted as a .PDF file
- Standardized filename format:
(LastName_FirstName_PosterComp_APRUFAP2026) - Posters should be in portrait format, size 48”(h)x 36”(w) (4x3’)
(Horizontal / landscape posters are discouraged due to space constraints) - Use of academic research poster template
- Submit the poster by emailing it to fap_2026@sfu.ca
Presenting
Location: SFU Vancouver, Harbour Centre Concourse
Date: October 6, 2026
(Winners announced October 7, 2026)
Time: TBD
Posters will be displayed throughout the conference in the Harbour Centre Concourse, with public viewing open.
- Poster session format: In-person only
- 5-10 minutes per presentation
- 5 minute Q&A following the presentation
Posters will be printed, paid for, and put on display for presenters, courtesy of Simon Fraser University.
Prizes
Students that meet the highest standard for their academic research poster will be awarded with the following:
1st Place: $500 CAD
2nd Place: $300 CAD
3rd Place: $200 CAD
Judging Criteria

| Scientific Quality & Innovation | 40 | Clear research question, sound methods, credible evidence, originality, and creativity |
| Future Impact & Relevance | 20 | Potential real-world value, sustainability, scalability, and community or industry benefit |
| Visual Design | 20 | Clear layout, readability, effective graphics, and professional appearance |
| Communication & Q&A | 20 | Clear explanation, strong key message, confidence, and ability to answer questions |
