Computing Account

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

ONE PERSON, ONE COMPUTING ID.

Your Computing ID is the username before “@sfu.ca” in your SFU email address. For example, if your SFU email is "kipling@sfu.ca", then your Computing ID is "kipling". Don't confuse it with the 9-digit student/employee number on your SFU ID card.

A computing ID is your digital key to login to SFU's technology services available to you, such as:

  • Wi-fi
  • SFU Mail (email and calendaring)
  • goSFU (course registration, tuition payment)
  • Canvas (lecture materials, assignments, etc.)
  • Computer labs
  • Online library service
  • and a variety of other SFU technology services

FAQ

I have more than one email address. Which one contains my computing ID?

Everyone at SFU has a primary email address (formatted as computingID@sfu.ca), as well as one or more email aliases (commonly formatted as firstname_lastname@sfu.ca). Usually the Computing ID doesn't have any underscores, has 8 characters and is a combination of the characters from the first and last name of the account holder. For example:

Name Computing ID Alias
Rudy Kiping kipling Rudy_Kipling
Katie-Louise Barr klbarr Katie_Louise_Barr
Chaya Hunt chunt Chaya_Hunt
