Mobile Touch Client

Explore the basic navigation of SFU Connect's mobile touch client, accessible through the browser of any touch device (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Android).

If you are an Android user, please note that there is a known issue with deleting emails. For more details refer to the Known Issues page.

Getting Started 

Starting at your home screen, open a web browser of your choice and type into the address bar.

This will take you to the SFU Connect login page, where you will enter your SFU Computing ID and password. By default, you will be directed to the new mobile touch client interface. If you prefer the previous mobile interface, you can access it by selecting Mobile from the drop down menu above the Sign In button.

Once you have logged in, you will be automatically directed to your inbox. 

Inbox Basics

Pull down and release your inbox to refresh it. New and unread messages will apppear bolded with a blue dot beside them.

To delete an email from your inbox, swipe the email to the left.

Tap an email to open it. In the top right corner are three icons: the arrow icon that allows you to Reply to or Forward a message, the trash can that deletes the message, and the three dots that provide you with more actions.

To navigate back to your inbox, tap the arrow in the top left corner of the email page.

To begin composing a new email, tap the new message icon in the top right corner of the screen.

This will take you to the Compose screen, where you can write your message. Tap Send in the top right corner to send the email or Cancel in the top left corner if you no longer wish to send it.


To navigate to other folders from your inbox, tap the three lines in the top left corner.

Here you can view your top-level folders, as well as any saved searches or tags. Tap on the folder, saved search, or tag to access them.

To go back, tap the three line icon in the top left corner.

To access folders that are nested under top level folders, tap on the arrow to the right of the top level folder's name.

To return to the main Folder menu, tap the three lines to return to the nested folders, and then tap the arrow in the top left corner of the Nested Folder Menu. 


To access other functions, such as Contacts or Calendar, tap the grid icon in the top left corner of the Folders screen.

This will take you to the Applications screen, where you can select Contacts or Calendar. From this screen, you can also Sign Out of your account.

On the Contacts page you can view, edit, add, and delete contacts.

On the Calendar page you can also view, add, edit, and delete events. To switch between views, click on Month, Day, or the Calendar Icon at the top of the page. The Calendar Icon will take you to the current date.

To return to your mail from either Calendar or Contacts, go back to their main screens by tapping the three lines in the top left corner.

Once there, tap on the grid icon to return to the Applications screen.

Signing Out

Here you can select Mail to return to your inbox, or you can Sign Out of your account.
