Explore the dynamic navigation of SFU Connect's web client

The Advanced (AJAX) Version of the SFU Connect interface offers various flexible and intuitive methods of navigating the system and each of its components.

Component Tabs

Conveniently located at the top of every SFU Connect page, ComponentTabs allows you to easily navigate to the different components within SFU Connect. Click on the tabs for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Documents, Briefcase, and Preferences:

Down-arrow menus

Some command buttons have a small down-arrow icon next to them, symbolizing that there are additional menu options available. Clicking on the button will display the additional menu options.

For all 'New' buttons, clicking on the button itself creates an item in the current component (e.g., a new message in Mail), while clicking specifically on the down-arrow icon displays additional menu choices.

Drag & Drop

Click on and drag items (e.g., messages, contacts, tasks, etc.) into folders to move them. Note that the coloured border of the item being dragged will change from red to green once your mouse pointer has reached another folder, signaling that the item is allowed to be moved to that particular folder. Otherwise, if the action is not allowed, the border will remain red.

Right-click menus

Right-click on items such as folders, messages, column headers, tasks, or appointments to display a menu of relevant functions that you can perform on that particular item. If you do not have a right mouse button, or are having difficulty right-clicking, holding down the Control key on your keyboard and clicking will also bring up the same menu.

Keyboard shortcuts

If you like using the keyboard for navigating computer applications, you will love keyboard shortcut options in SFU Connect. You can access a list of shortcuts by clicking on the Preferences Tab, and then on Shortcuts on the left side menu.

Tip: Hold the Control key + q to bring up a list of shortcuts.
