How to add a printer

As a staff member, you have access to printers connected to the SFU Print Servers.

To add a printer from a Windows 7 workstation:

  1. Click Start 
  2. Click Devices and Printers
  3. Click Add a Printer
  4. The Add Printer dialog appears. Click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer
  5. Click The printer that I want isn't listed
  6. The Find a Printer by Name or TCP/IP address dialog appears. Click Fina a printer in the directory, based on location or feature
  7. Click Next
  8. The Find Printers dialog appears. Before proceeding, look at the blue asset tag on the printer. Record the tag number
  9. Type the tag number using the following format, *[tag number]*, in Name. For example, *12345*
  10. Click Find Now
  11. Select a printer you wish to add in the Search results
  12. Click OK
  13. Wait for the installation process to finish
  14. Click Next
  15. [Optional] Uncheck Set as the default printer if you do not want it to be your default printer
  16. [Optional] Click Print a test page if you want to send a test page
  17. Click Finish

How to use Secure Print on Konica Minolta

Note: Following steps are based on Windows 7. Other versions of Windows may have slightly different steps.

  1. When you are ready to print, File -> Print
  2. Make sure the correct Konica Minolta printer is selected
  3. Click Prferences
  4. Click the Basic tab
  5. Change Output Method to Secure Print

  6. You will be prompted for a Secure Print ID and Password
    • The Secure Print ID can be any text – as simple as your initials. A 4-digit number would suffice as the Password. You are going to have to enter these on the KM.

  7. Click OK
  8. Click OK again
  9. Click Print

At the Printer

  1. Press the User Box button
  2. Press Secure Print User Box on KM's touch screen
  3. Enter the Secure Print ID and Password you have created in Step #6 above
  4. Select the document(s) to be printed
  5. Press Print when ready
  6. Change any paper/print settings as you wish
  7. Press Start
  8. Press the Reset button when you are done printing
