Julia Denholm, Dean
Julia Denholm is the dean of Lifelong Learning at Simon Fraser University. She was formerly dean, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, at Capilano University, as well as dean of kálax-ay, Capilano’s Sunshine Coast campus. She obtained her PhD in educational studies and her master of arts in English literature from the University of British Columbia.
Denholm has extensive experience in teaching and higher education leadership. She began her academic career teaching with the Department of English at UBC and also taught within the Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Applied Science, and through the Distance Education and Technology unit. Denholm later joined Langara College as instructor and chair, English, and division chair, Humanities.
While at Capilano University, her responsibilities included career and community programming offered at the kálax-ay campus. A lifelong learner herself, Denholm is committed to community engagement and to the development of excellent continuing education programs that meet students where they are and take them to where they want to be.
