NEXT STEPS: VACCINE DECLARATION & RAPID SCREENING

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a vaccine declaration. The response rate so far is more than 80% across faculty, staff, and students combined, which is impressive but we’d like to see this number even higher. Making a declaration is an important step we can all take to keep our campuses safe this fall. If you haven’t submitted your Vaccine Declaration yet, please do so now.

You can submit your confidential declaration online or request a fillable form by sending an email to covid19@sfu.ca.

All declarations are confidential. We take the privacy of our community seriously and have put safeguards in place to restrict access to the information collected. Visit the Vaccine Declaration page to learn more.

RESULTS LOOK POSITIVE

So far of those who have declared their vaccination status, more than 97% of our community have said they are fully or partially vaccinated, with the remainder either unvaccinated or choosing not to declare.

RAPID SCREENING LAUNCHES NEXT WEEK

Rapid screening will be available on all three campuses next week. All those who have not been vaccinated or have chosen not to declare their status are eligible and will receive an invite to participate in regular weekly screening. Rapid screening is offered to people who aren’t showing symptoms of COVID-19 to reduce the spread of COVID-19 from asymptomatic or presymptomatic cases. Stay tuned for more information on SFU’s Rapid Screening program next week.

DECLARATION AUDIT

We are working on a plan to determine the accuracy of declarations through an audit process. Stay tuned for more information.

FALL 2021 CONVOCATION: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers can choose which ceremonies they wish to volunteer for. All attendees will be required to follow provincial and university event safety protocols.

With the fall term upon us, it’s important that all students, faculty and staff familiarize themselves with campus safety and know what to do in an emergency. All members of the community are encouraged to learn about emergency plans and download the Snap App for emergency alerts (make sure you enable notifications in Snap).

SFU instructors can receive up to $5,000 in grants to recognize teaching development as a scholarly activity and stimulate faculty-led investigation of new or innovative teaching and learning practices.
