RETURN TO CAMPUS

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: SFU LAUNCHES FOUR-STAGE PLAN FOR THE RETURN TO CAMPUS

Following provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry's instructions, SFU has released a four-stage plan to prepare for a return to on-campus instruction in the fall. The plan takes into account several factors, including rate of community transmission, vaccination uptake and public health orders. The new plan replaces the university’s previous COVID-19 impact scale.

SFU STUDENT DEVELOPS YOUTH-LED OVERDOSE TRAINING

After a young woman collapsed on her, SFU Faculty of Health Sciences student Chloe Goodison has poured her energy into developing NaloxHome, a youth-led team that provides overdose education and naloxone training to secondary students in the Tri-Cities. She has also been named a winner of the 2021-21 SFU Student-Community Engagement Competition.

An SFU chemistry team has discovered a new coating solution that turns regular materials into waterproof surfaces. The project, lead by professor Hogan Yu, was discovered by accident by one of his students. The team has spent the past five years testing and refining the formula and are now ready to share their findings with the world.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Fang Quei Quo, professor emeritus of SFU’s political science department, on March 26, 2021. Fang will be remembered as a pioneer of Japanese political studies at SFU, having made enormous contributions to the field. Colleagues remember him as a very kind person who was supportive and mentored many throughout his career.
