KEEPING THE SFU COMMUNITY SAFE THROUGH RAPID SCREENING

SFU is launching an eight-week COVID-19 rapid screening pilot project, beginning today, for varsity athletes and students living in on-campus housing. Learn more about how this project is keeping our community safe as we prepare to return to campus.

Whether she is gathering students for presentations about career options or heading up the United Way bake sale, Brenda Badgero brings an infectious energy to all she does — and she has done a lot over her 30 years at SFU. It is with sadness that we share the passing of David Gagan on May 31, 2021. Gagan was a leader in Canadian qualitative social history as well as family and medical history in SFU's history department.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: JUNE 2021 VIRTUAL CONVOCATION IS COMING UP

Faculty and staff are invited to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class of June 2021 at our Virtual Convocation on June 24, 25, 28 and 29. There will be eight ceremonies, hosted by Chancellor Tamara Vrooman and President Joy Johnson. All ceremonies will include messages from SFU’s distinguished honorary degree recipients and the formal conferral of degrees.

JOIN PUBLIC HEALTH EXPERT DR. RÉKA GUSTAFSON AT THURSDAY'S TOWNHALL

B.C.’s Deputy Health Officer Dr. Réka Gustafson will join SFU leaders for a virtual staff and faculty townhall on Thursday, June 10 at 11 a.m. She will answer health and safety questions as the university readies for the return to campus.

UNIVERSITY INSTRUCTION, RECONCILIATION AND HEALING

Join Kevin Lamoureux (University of Winnipeg) in exploring the central role faculty members and instructors can play in reconciliation and cross-cultural safety in Healing the Wound with the Weapon: University Instruction, Reconciliation and Healing.

With a particular focus on recognizing bias, confronting discrimination and deconstructing otherness, this session will create space for conversations on how we can contribute to social well-being through the gift of reconciliation provided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

Join fellow SFU leaders for an informal discussion about leading teams through change, with a focus on the return to on-campus work. All levels of leaders are welcome. Join us with tea or coffee in hand.
