One example of indigenized curriculum
SFU's Aboriginal Reconciliation Council is conducting a university-wide dialogue about how the institution can contribute to reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities. Indigenized curriculum is one possible pathway. An example of what indigenized curriculum can look like comes from Veselin Jungic (right), teaching professor and associate chair of the Mathematics department, who has created animated films that use a story-based approach to teach math to Aboriginal pre-university students. On December 1, Jungic and his team released "Small Number and the Old Totem Pole" in the Squamish language. Watch the video.
