Bryan Quaife

Current Position: Assistant Professor in the Department of Scientific Computing at Florida State University

BSc in Mathematics, University of Calgary (2004)

MSc in Applied Mathematics, University of Calgary (2006)

PhD in Applied Mathematics, Simon Fraser University (2011)

Postdoc in ICES, University of Texas at Austin (2011-2015)

The academic and professional training I received at SFU is invaluable for my career in academia.  Mary-Catherine Kropinski and other faculty, especially Jim Verner and Nilima Nigam, provided excellent supervision.  I have many fond memories of problem solving workshops, organizing the Applied Math Graduate Student Conference (AMGSC), spending time with fellow PIMS graduate students, and attending scientific meetings.

In addition to research, I was especially fortunate to gain teaching experience at SFU.  I twice supervised undergraduate students in workshops organized by JF Williams, and I was a course instructor in the Summer 2010 semester.

My experience at SFU set the course for a productive postdoc at the Institute for Computational Science and Engineering, and then my current position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Scientific Computing.
