Meeting Rooms

SFU’s main campus, located on Burnaby Mountain in Burnaby, BC, offers a wide range of meeting and event spaces.  We are able to provide you with unique and functional spaces for your meetings, conferences, social and special events, sports groups, lectures and presentations.

Leslie & Gordon Diamond Family Theatre at Convocation Mall

The Diamond Family Theatre, located in the centre of the campus on Convocation Mall, has recently undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation. The theatre holds 420 people and can also accommodate receptions for 200 or banquets for 120.  It is an excellent space for trade show or exhibits, as well as film screenings or small arts productions.

Halpern Centre

In the centre of the campus, the Halpern Centre features four meeting rooms as well as the on-campus offices for Meeting, Event and Conference Services. Each room features natural light. Boardrooms 111 and 123 can accommodate up to 10 people with boardroom-style seating. Rooms 114 and 126 offer flexible seating and can be configured into boardroom, horseshoe, rounds, theatre and reception styles.

The Diamond Alumni Centre

The Diamond Alumni Centre, also known as the DAC, is renowned for its spectacular scenery and location. The combination of exceptional catering, personalized service and outstanding views makes the Diamond Alumni Centre a popular venue for conferences, meetings, weddings and other special events.

Built on two levels, the DAC features natural timbers, stone fireplaces and abundant greenery, which create a harmonious setting to enjoy the panoramic view of Indian Arm and the North Shore mountains.  The main dining room, bar and dance floor occupy the upper level, while the lower level features two reception and meeting rooms.  Both levels offer access to an outside deck, and all areas are wheelchair accessible.

Additional Event Spaces

Event spaces include lecture theatres, flexible seating classrooms, meeting rooms and open public areas, with the most availability during the summer months (May through August), or on evenings and weekends during the Spring and Fall semesters.

Lecture theatres contain state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, and most are equipped with data projectors and internet connections. Tiered seating theatres range in size from 36–504 seats, all with folding writing tables on each chair.

Flexible classroom spaces range between 20–50 seats, and can be set either in classroom or boardroom seating. They come equipped with an overhead projector, blackboards and projection screens; many offer natural light.
