Safewalk

Vancouver Campus

The concept of the SFU Safewalk Program is to encourage campus community members to work together to enhance their personal safety and sense of well-being. Although there have been no reports of an attack on any campus members within the past few years, it is always wise to be careful. The Safewalk Station can assist by facilitating group escorts to the various parking lots in the area.

Persons who wish to make use of the program can meet at the Safewalk Station designated for that building. The purpose of the station is to provide a focal point where faculty, staff, students and visitors can meet to walk together in groups to adjacent parking lots.

If you are comfortable with your peers and associates who are at the station, then simply walk to your vehicles, ensuring that no group becomes smaller than three persons. The third-last person will continue to drive their vehicle alongside the last two remaining persons until the second-last and then the final person is safely inside his/her vehicle. To provide optimum safety it is recommended that no group is smaller than three persons.
