Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Examines theoretical approaches, research findings, and treatment outlooks concerning problems and disorders in childhood development.

COURSE DETAILS:

 This course will provide an overview of childhood disorders from infancy through adolescence.  Emphasis will be placed on conceptualizing disorders within the context of family, school and community issues.  These disorders will also be discussed in terms of the potential developmental pathways, including risk and protective factors that have led to the manifestation of a child's psychopathology.  Various treatment orientations and approaches to childhood disorders will be reviewed.  Topics include (but are not limited to) anxiety disorders, mood disorders, autism, child maltreatment, attention disorders, learning disorder and conduct problems.

  • Term Paper/Project: 35%
