CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

A broad survey of some of the central developments that have shaped the history of the British Isles from Roman antiquity to the present. Breadth-Humanities.

COURSE DETAILS:

This course is designed to provide students with a broad survey of some of the central developments that have shaped the history of the British Isles from the Anglo-Saxon settlements to the latter decades of the twentieth century.  Anglocentric and thematic, this course provides a foundation for the more specialised offerings in English, Scottish and Irish history at the 300 and 400 levels.

  • Informed tutorial participation and work 20%
  • Gobbet assignments (2) 40%
