CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Acquaints the student with the major issues in contemporary psychology and considers the historical antecedents. Special attention is given to questions of methodology and research design in psychology. Topics in physiological psychology, perception, learning and motivation are considered. Breadth-Social Sciences.

COURSE DETAILS:

This course is the first half of an introduction to the field of psychology, the study of mind, brain, and behaviour. We begin with a brief examination of the history of the field and then move on to examine questions that have dominated the attention of psychologists, past and present.

In order for the lowest score of the 4 exams to be dropped all 4 exams must be written. Each exam will include two textbook chapters, non-textbook and video content, as well as the occasional question generated from in-class discussion.

Please note that this is a face-to-face course with no online tests or iclicker tests. There are no makeup exams, re-writes, or alternative assignments for missed exams and assignments.
