Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Continues the approaches taken in CHIN 100 and CHIN 110 in order to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students will be able to exchange ideas and opinions in daily conversation, and to read short stories and articles. Understandings of Chinese values and customs will be developed in a cross-cultural perspective. Students enrolled/placed into other Chinese courses may not take this course for credit.

COURSE DETAILS:

CHIN 200 continues with the CHIN100 & 101 multiple approaches to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completing the course, students will be able to exchange ideas and opinions in daily conversation, read short stories and articles, and learn about 250 new Chinese characters.  This course will help students strengthen functional skills such as word-processing, blog postings, and working with online Chinese resources.  Students will develop a deeper understanding of the Chinese values and customs in cross-cultural perspectives.  

This is a blended course with 2 hours of asynchronous assignments and 2-hour in-person tutorial every week. Attendance of the in-person tutorials is a requirement of the course. The first tutorial starts in the first week of classes.

CHIN200 may be applied towards the Chinese Certificate and the Global Asia Minor.
