Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Current topics in advanced quantum algorithms and related issues depending on faculty and student interest. Possible topics include the hidden subgroup problem, quantum walk, systems of linear equations, adiabatic quantum computing, quantum system simulation, quantum error correction, quantum circuits and compilation, and quantum machine learning.

COURSE DETAILS:

Quantum Circuits and Compilation

Quantum computers in the gate model operate by executing quantum circuits. This seminar-style course aims to broadly explore the techniques, foundational to modern, through which a high-level quantum algorithm may be compiled down to a circuit which can then be run on quantum hardware. Using common quantum algorithmic features as motivation we will delve into different aspects of quantum compilation, including the design, synthesis, and programming of quantum circuits, optimization of circuits, theoretical questions of efficiency, and the simulation and verification of quantum circuits.
