Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

A faculty-mentored workshop in which MEd students in Educational Technology and Learning Design produce a major new technology-enhanced learning design for a setting that interests them, to demonstrate their mastery of principles, ideas and skills acquired in the core courses. Students will have scheduled meetings with their instructor throughout the term to report progress and seek advice.

COURSE DETAILS:

A faculty-mentored workshop in which MEd students in Educational Technology and Learning Design produce a major new technology-enhanced learning design for a setting that interests them, to demonstrate their mastery of principles, ideas and skills acquired in the core courses. Students will have scheduled meetings with their instructor throughout the term to report progress and seek advice. Prerequisite: EDUC 864, EDUC 890, EDUC 891, EDUC 892, EDUC 893. Corequisite: EDUC 935.

COURSE-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

Successful students will integrate their learning across the ETLD Masters program and apply it appropriately through the production of a cohesive technology-enhanced learning design suitable for use in a context of their choice.

Grading

  • Preparedness for appointments with faculty mentor 10%
  • Progress milestones (presented for review at appointments) 40%
  • Review of peers' draft work against grading criteria for EDUC 935 30%
  • Evidence of follow-through on advice from instructor and assigned peer reviewers 20%

NOTES:

Students must attend all scheduled meetings and complete all assignments.

REQUIREMENTS:

This course has mandatory synchronous meetings.

There will be 3 in-person, whole group meetings held from 4:30pm to 8:20pm in SRYC2710. These will occur on the first and second Tuesdays of the term, and the last Tuesday of the term.

Over the remainder of the semester, each student will have 4 one-on-one meetings with the instructor (one every 2 weeks) to get feedback on their progress. These will take place on Zoom during the regular scheduled class time

Materials

MATERIALS + SUPPLIES:

Students must have access to all the hardware and software tools needed to complete the learning design they choose to produce to meet the course requirements. If those generally provided to SFU students are not sufficient, the student must acquire them themselves.
