Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

For students who have taken CHEM 282, it offers the opportunity to complete the more comprehensive treatment of Organic Chemistry II. It covers advanced organic reactions, including modern catalytic and radical-based transformations, their mechanisms, and their use in the synthesis of biologically relevant target molecules. Students with credit for CHEM 283 may not take this course for further credit.

Alternatively, a student may write all of the assessments for CHEM 283 (refer to the CHEM 283 course outline). To do so, the student must contact the course instructor prior to the first CHEM 283 assessment and agree in writing.

RECOMMENDED READING:

Any recent edition of an introductory organic chemistry textbook.

There is no specifically assigned textbook for CHEM 282/3/4. However, you should have access to and read any relatively recent edition of a standard undergraduate-level Organic Chemistry text (e.g. Bruice, Brown and Foote, Carey, Jones, Klein, Wade, Vollhardt, McMurry etc.) in order to support your understanding of the course material.
