CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Continues introduction to Mandarin Chinese for students who have developed the necessary foundations from CHIN 100. Students will acquire elementary conversational skills and basic reading ability. Students enrolled/placed into other Chinese courses may not take this course for credit. Students with credit for CHIN 101 may not take this course for further credit. Breadth-Humanities.

Take your Mandarin Chinese further with CHIN 110!

If you’ve completed CHIN 100 and are ready for the next step, CHIN 110 will help you build the skills and confidence to communicate more naturally in Mandarin. Sharpen your pronunciation, expand your vocabulary, and learn 200 new Chinese characters as you develop your ability to speak, listen, read, and interact in everyday situations.

Through engaging activities and real-world communication, you’ll learn how to talk about daily routines, hobbies, future plans, and personal preferences while becoming a more confident and independent language user. Along the way, you’ll explore Chinese culture, perspectives, and values from a global perspective, gaining a deeper appreciation of the language and the communities that use it.

Designed with flexibility in mind, this blended course combines weekly asynchronous online modules with a 2-hour in-person tutorial each week, giving you the freedom to learn on your schedule while benefiting from regular face-to-face practice and support.

Start building stronger Mandarin skills from Week 1—tutorials begin in the first week of classes!
