Complete Exercise I on p. 197

Just do the raising here, don't try the passive movement yet. Answer part (i) only for now. Save (ii) and (iii) for later.

Determine the complete derivation of the following noun (including all raising):

1. Who seems to have written the book which Mary does not like?
2. What does John seem to have thrown away?

Mark each appropriate NP with Case.

(Just in case I don't get far enough, read up where Ouhalla says that to cannot assign the nominative Case to the adjunct NP of T. Be sure to indicate to in feature form.)

Do all of these in the two-level theory.
