Exercise 2:
- Go to Syntactic Structure Testing in Program Aids and complete Exercise 16 therein.
- Complete six forms, print them, and turn them in.
now open up Grammar 2 Lexicon
- Suffixes are introduced in Grammar2. Numerals from one to 1,000 are also introduced in 2.
- Determiners are also introduced.
- Generate the following phrases:
- one apple
- one balloon
- this picture
- that rice
- the two apples
- five people
- the cattle
- some scissors
- several books
- few ideas
- the one idea
- oxen
- two men
- three feet
- the three muses.
- *one people
- *two rices
- *five polices
Note that we (my w.s. student and me) have not got irregular the code for operators worked out yet. This means that we can only one form for ONE (one), and the singular for THIS and THAT. The code is more complex than I had envisioned. However, the irregular forms for Anglo-Saxon nouns does work. For [-Def], type in NULL. Later, I will have it return a blank. So it is OK if NULL TWO WOMAN returns 'null two women'.
- Draw by hand the tree structures for 1. and 8. above.
