Abstract: Recent discussions of the so-called “value of truth,” universally assume that what is valuable in the relevant way is not the things that are true, but only our various dealings with those things: knowing them, investigating them, etc. I consider five reasons to hold this view, but argue that none provide good reason for it. Along the way, we find some preliminary indications that what is true actually is valuable in the relevant way, and we also gain a better appreciation of what this would involve and why it would matter.
