Translation & Cultural Brokers
The Phonological Processing lab is seeking cultural brokers to assist in data collection for a study investigating the process young children (5-8) go through when learning English as a second language. We need consultants who can explain and translate our research goals to families in the following languages:
- Mandarin, Cantonese, and other Chinese languages
- Arabic, from any predominantly Arabic-speaking place
- Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Tamil, Gujarati, and other languages of the Indian subcontinent
If you are a fluent speaker of one of these languages, and you have a connection to recent immigrant families on the Lower Mainland, we would love to hear from you! We are ultimately looking to hire a few cultural brokers (preferably women) to be paid for work as consultants (5-10 hours a week), but anyone with a connection is encouraged to get in touch with us. Please feel free to pass along our contact information to any friends, family or colleagues who might be able to help.
