Employment Opportunity
Kavanagh Lab - Postdoctoral Fellow
Location: Kavanagh Lab (www.sfu.ca/kavanaghlab) Department of Physics Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC V5A 1S6
Position: We seek a Postdoctoral Fellow to carry out
experimental research projects involving probing particle coherence in a
Helium Ion Microscope (HIM). The HIM is a facility within 4D Labs (www.4dlabs.ca)
at SFU, part of a larger user facility for materials research and
development. You are eligible if you possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field
of science and engineering, earned within the last five years, or you
expect to obtain such a degree within six months. You must have a
demonstrated ability to perform original high-quality research, but the
preferred applicant will have previous experience with HIM or similar
technology. Experience with STEM, UHV, MOCVD, as well as general
electronic materials characterization are also assets.
The initial appointment will normally be for a two-year term.
Appointments may be extended for a maximum period of three (3) years,
subject to the PDF’s performance and availability of funding.
Eligibility: Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents, but this position is open to nationals of all countries. Salary: Ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience, and will be subject to taxes and other deductions.
