Position: We seek a Postdoctoral Fellow to carry out
experimental research projects involving probing particle coherence in a
Helium Ion Microscope (HIM). The HIM is a facility within 4D Labs (www.4dlabs.ca)
at SFU, part of a larger user facility for materials research and
development. You are eligible if you possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field
of science and engineering, earned within the last five years, or you
expect to obtain such a degree within six months. You must have a
demonstrated ability to perform original high-quality research, but the
preferred applicant will have previous experience with HIM or similar
technology. Experience with STEM, UHV, MOCVD, as well as general
electronic materials characterization are also assets.
The initial appointment will normally be for a two-year term. Appointments may be extended for a maximum period of three (3) years, subject to the PDF’s performance and availability of funding.
Eligibility: Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents, but this position is open to nationals of all countries. Our group is committed to ensuring that no individual is denied access to employment opportunities for reasons unrelated to ability or qualifications. Consistent with this principle, we will advance the interests of underrepresented members of the work force, specifically Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and women; embrace gender and sexual diversity; ensure that equal opportunity is afforded to all who seek employment at the University; and treat all employees equitably. Thus, candidates that belong to underrepresented groups in Physics are particularly welcome to apply.
Salary: Ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience, and will be subject to taxes and other deductions.
Application: In order to be considered for the position, please send the following:
• Cover letter explaining your interest in the position.
• Transcript - an electronic copy is sufficient, it does not have to be an official version.
• Two names of references where letters of recommendation can be requested, or attach a copy of their letters to your application.
Applications should be sent to Prof. Karen Kavanagh via electronic mail with the subject line HIMPDF: email@example.com
