Michael Steger Receives Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal
Dr. Michael Steger, SFU PhD 2011, will receive the Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal at SFU's June 2012 convocation ceremony. The Dean's Convocation Medals "recognize graduating students from each faculty whose cumulative grade-point averages place them in the top five per cent of their class." Michael has published over 25 papers in refereed journals after joining Mike Thewalt's group in 2005, including four in Physical Review Letters. His thesis, "Photoluminescence of Deep Defects Involving Transition Metals in Silicon--New Insights from Highly Enriched 28Si", formed the basis of an invited review article that was featured on the cover of Applied Physics Review. He now holds a position as a System Engineer with Carl Zeiss Semiconductor Metrology Systems in Jena, Germany.
