Postdoctoral Fellow in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, T. Claydon lab
During my PhD, I served in almost every position on the trainee committee at my research centre and I wish to continue to be involved and give back as a postdoc. I am passionate about ensuring good communication, equity, diversity, and inclusion in events, activities, and initiatives. I love working in a team and sharing my experiences and learning from others; even during my short time as a postdoc so far (since Fall 2019) I have enjoyed participating in the events run by the postdoc association and would love to contribute to their continued success and growth.
VP External Communication
Postdoctoral Fellow in Physics
I’m a theoretical physicist at the physics department at SFU. Having recently moved here from Germany, I understand the importance of the PDA to support newcomers as well as the role it plays in providing community in these challenging times.
I would enjoy representing SFU postdocs nationally and want to contribute to shaping the academic landscape for postdoctoral researchers across Canada. In particular, I will focus on helping to ensure fair working environments that provide financial security and respect equality and inclusivity.
VP Internal Communication
PIMS Postdoctoral Fellow in Mathematics
I have enjoyed serving on the SFU PDA executive council as VP Internal Communication for the last year. I am committed to providing opportunities for SFU's community of postdoctoral researchers to learn, advance their skills, and make new connections during their time at SFU. Over the past year, I have participated in organization meetings with the SFU and UBC postdoctoral associations, managed the SFU PDA website and mailing lists, and helped to plan events such as the brown bag seminar and joint SFU-UBC postdoctoral career night. I look forward to another year of participation in the SFU PDA.
VP Operations and Finance
I've really enjoyed being part of the PDA over the last couple of years and want to help carry on their excellent work improving SFU post-doc quality of life and celebrating our awesome research! I have great organizational and budgeting skills from leading multiple overseas fieldwork expeditions and outreach activities, and my excel spreadsheet skills are wild. I believe I would do an excellent job as the next VP- Operations and Finance.
