SFU community shows support for lives lost, families and friends of UIA752 tragedy

We have all been moved by the devastating loss of life in Iran last week – a tragedy that resulted in the deaths of 176 people, many of whom were students, faculty, researchers and alumni of Canada’s universities.
SFU is joining with other Canadian universities in a moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. PST on Wednesday, Jan. 15, one week after the event, to honour those who died and to extend our support to families and friends suffering the loss of loved ones.
I encourage you to pause wherever you are tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for one minute of silent reflection and commemoration for those whose lives were lost.
This event has shocked and saddened us all, and reminded us of how much Canadian universities benefit from the contributions of those who come to this country from around the world.
I hope you will join us in this tribute.
