Thank you Chancellor Giardini

June 12, 2020

This is Anne Giardini’s last week as SFU Chancellor, a role she has performed magnificently since 2014. In addition to excelling in this role for the past six years, Anne previously served for four years as a member of SFU’s Board of Governors, including as Deputy Chair.

In all these capacities, she has worked tirelessly as our advocate and ambassador, and her exemplary service has benefited the entire university community.

Anne’s insights as an SFU alumnus, her legal and business acumen, and her belief in the power of education have been invaluable in guiding the university and advancing its vision. Over the past decade, she has led innumerable university meetings with authenticity and candor. Her warmth and enthusiasm has inspired students at countless university events, especially during Convocation.

Anne’s devotion to literature and the arts, her commitment to equity and diversity, and her passion for sustainability have enriched the university and made it a better place to live, learn, and work.

Thank you, Anne for your wisdom, your leadership and your deep commitment to our students – and, speaking personally, for the friendship you have shown Maureen and me.

It has been an honour and privilege to work with you over the past decade, and I join the university community in wishing you every success in your next adventures.
