RA OPPORTUNITY: Qualitative data analysis for SFU: What’s Next?
The President’s Office and SFU: What’s Next? team invites applications for several Research Assistant appointments for a short-term project to analyze and report on qualitative data.
A group of five RAs are sought to develop and deliver qualitative data analysis and assessment to support the development of SFU’s Strategic Plan. Key deliverables will be to sort input collected through Thought Exchange online dialogue for thematic alignment and create a report to be shared with SFU’s senior leadership and full community.
Research assistant duties
- Interpreting qualitative input and gathering into common themes.
- Advising on the most appropriate means of converting data into useful information and how to present the results in the most suitable format for the needs of the primary recipients.
- Present thematic findings to senior leadership of SFU
- Attend meetings via Zoom with project lead and other RAs
Required qualifications and skills
- Experience in qualitative data analysis, including coding and summarizing (experience with qualitative analysis software would be an asset)
- Experience in research instrument design
- Familiarity with typical computer software such as Microsoft Office
- Excellent time management skills, ability to follow a schedule and complete tasks on time
- Ability to handle confidential data
- Currently enrolled as a student at SFU
- We encourage grad students with diverse lived experience to apply
Rate of pay
- $25 - $28 per hour (including vacation and statutory holiday pay, no medical or dental benefits) based on experience and qualifications
Work schedule
- May – June, 2022: up to 50 hours
- Possibility for additional hours at future stages of project
- Work may be done fully remote, mostly independently
