We are looking for a compassionate, affirming, and "kid-at-heart" individual to work with 2 autistic sisters (ages 9 and 6) who both adore all things Disney and Pixar! Areas of priority include: community inclusion, recreation, self-help (feeding, toileting, dressing), and communication. Experience with AAC would be an asset.

Compensation starts at $20/hour and is dependent on performance and experience. Sessions will be 2-2.5 hours, a couple days a week. 

Description: 

I’m looking for outgoing and reliable individuals to work with two young students in the Tri Cities. You will be providing support in the students’ homes. No experience is necessary – all training will be provided. Applicants must be able to attend a monthly team meeting, provide a one year commitment, and a clean criminal record check.

This position is perfect for students looking for experience in Psychology, Occupational Therapy (OT), Counselling, and/or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

Student 1: 5 year old boy in Port Moody. Our program focuses on teaching functional communication, accepting disappointment, and participation in self-care activities and pre-academic tasks. Sessions will be 2-2.5 hours in length on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Student 2: 8 year old boy in Coquitlam (Burke Mountain). Our program focuses on teaching social skills, emotion regulation, academics, and flexibility. Sessions will be 2 hours in length and held 2 times per week after school. Specific dates TBD.

Programs are supervised by Colby Anderson, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Hours & Wage: 

We are looking for BIs to commit to running 2 to 3 sessions per week and to attend monthly team meetings.  A minimum one year commitment is required following the completion of training. Rate of pay will depend on experience, ranging from $20 - $25/ hour. 

Description: 

One team is for a 10 year old boy in South Surrey (Grandview area) with ASD. He will have 3-hour sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, with the option of weekend sessions as well. The BCBA on the team is Angie Ho, MEd, and intern Aby Hakimi, MA. 

The other 2 boys (9 years and 7 years) are siblings looking for after school sessions with BI's, sessions would be 1.5 - 2 hours in length. The BCBA is Elizabeth Goldstone, MSc, and intern Aby Hakimi, MA.

We are currently seeking a male mentor for a high school student on the autism spectrum. The student’s interests include comics, fantasy, creative writing, and fitness. Weekly sessions will involve providing mentorship and companionship to the student in community settings. Outing locations may include the mall, the gym, the movie theatre, etc.

Autism support staff wanted for a 5-year-old Autistic boy. He loves to draw and colour, play cars and Mario, physical play and board games. We are currently working on social understanding, expressive language and emotional-regulation and will be doing most teaching through natural routines and play, so strong play skills are preferred.

You should be able to work independently following guidance and direction of Behaviour Consultant Jen Ashlee, M.Ed, BCBA.

Applicants must:

  • Must be able to play, be creative, be silly and follow instructions.
  • Be responsible and energetic
  • Experience working with young children required (e.g. ECE, parent, babysitting etc.)
  • Be at least 19 years old
  • Have a clear criminal record check
  • Have reliable transportation
