5 Reasons to Attend We The City: An Evening at the Centre
OCTOBER 30, 2015, vancitybuzz.com
The special evening, brought to you by SFU Public Square, will be devoted to exploring how arts and culture can transform public space and improve the quality of life in cities. Here are five reasons why you should join in the evening’s festivities:
Buffy will be there
Buffy Sainte-Marie will be one of the keynote speakers at We The City. Don’t miss a rare opportunity to catch the 2015 Polaris Music Prize Winner live on stage at The Centre engaging in a lively, multi-sensory cultural experience.
Come for the pre-event street festival
There’s more to We The City than the event itself. The night begins at 5 p.m. in front of The Centre with food trucks, music, digital graffiti walls and street artist Kaid Ashton creating a live painting on site.
Connect with like-minded Vancouverites
MC Mo Dhaliwal and event organizers will be going out of their way to ensure that people interact with their neighbours, so you can look forward to meeting like-minded friends who will be only too happy to talk about the importance of arts and culture in building the cities of tomorrow.
You’ll get to hear from thoughtful and intelligent people about arts, culture and our city
SFU Public Square has brought in some brilliant artists for the We The City event, including artist Candy Chang and Teju Cole, distinguished Writer-in-Residence at Bard College and photography critic of New York Times Magazine .
Because cities of the future need more engaging public space
