Are you, your group or your organization working to create connections in the urban environment? Apply to secure one of the free spaces at one of the SFU Surrey, Burnaby or Vancouver campuses. $500 to be spend on the event, available for each successful applicant!

Enjoy poetry in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate George Bowering and Cecily Nicholson shared their poetic ideas with an engaged audience.

Big Ideas for Libraries in Communities

Community spirit thrived at libraries – virtual, cooperative, academic and public! We heard the top ten ideas submitted by community members, on how libraries can contribute to building stronger and more meaningful connections.

City Conversations – Lonely in Vancouver

This popular downtown Vancouver brown-bag conversation series discussed isolation in Vancouver, drivers of change in the community and potential solutions leading to greater connectedness, featured Vancouver Foundations’ Catherine Clement.

Urban Conspiracy Cabaret

CBC Debaters’ Charlie Demers and Richard Side hosted a unique and eclectic night of comedy, music, arts and poetry.

Mayors' Roundtable

This facilitated dialogue discussed municipal strategies for various issues related to urban isolation with a focus on building more vibrant and resilient communities.

Rain City Chronicles – Extra Ordinary

An evening of storytelling and music, this event featured extra–ordinary community folks sharing personal reflections on how they have brought their neighborhoods and communities together.

Film Festival

Films from across the globe, exploring the issue of isolation in the urban environment, was screened at the Westminster Savings Credit Union SFU Surrey Theater for the Alone Together Film Festival.
