RNA research reveals clues to the origins of life

March 30, 2021

How did life begin on Earth and could it exist elsewhere? Simon Fraser University researchers in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Peter Unrau and Razvan Cojocaru have isolated a genetic clue – an enzyme known as an RNA polymerase – that provides new insights about the origins of life. The research was recently published in the journal Science.
