FAQ
What will Canvas be used for?
The core course content is released on Canvas each Monday at 9am. There is a video to watch, a reading or resource to read/watch/listen to, and a topic summary to review. This can all be done on your own schedule. Assignments and assessments are also completed on Canvas.
Is the course asynchronous?
Partially. The course is primarily self-directed, except for the weekly live Zoom sessions.
Do I have to attend the live Zoom sessions?
Yes, you must attend at least 6 of these to earn the course certificate. There are 8 total (one per week) so you can miss two.
What if I can’t attend 6 of the live Zoom sessions?
If you can’t attend at least 6, this may not be the best time for you to take this course. Get on the KM Hub mailing list to receive updates about next year, and about the Research Impact Canada summer MobilizeU.
But this is the only time I can take the course! Can you make an accommodation for me?
Possibly. Send Sophie a message at sophie_ashton@sfu.ca to discuss.
How do I earn the course certificate?
Watch, read, review all videos, resources and topic summaries. Attend at least 6 live Zoom sessions. Complete at least 2 assignments. You also must complete two very short pre-assessments and the same two post-assessments - these are assessments of the our teaching/the course not of you!
