Communications Access Methods for SAS/CONNECT and SAS/SHARE Software

Terminology

Throughout this documentation, we have adopted terms that refer to the local and remote sides of a SAS/CONNECT and a SAS/SHARE session. Definitions follow:

local host: SAS/CONNECT local side; the host from which a user connects to a SAS/CONNECT remote host.
remote host: SAS/CONNECT remote side; the host to which a user on a SAS/CONNECT local host connects.
client: SAS/SHARE local side; the host from which a user connects to a remote SAS/SHARE server.
server: SAS/SHARE remote side; the session on the remote side that provides data processing services as part of a distributed application.
