Communications Access Methods for SAS/CONNECT and SAS/SHARE Software

Option and Variable Summaries by Platform

A summary of the options and variables that are used for each communications access method on each platform is shown in the following tables. A table identifies the access method, the name of the options and variables that are used by the access method, and the software on which it is used. It also indicates where the value of an option or a variable can be set.

Note:   Included in these tables are security options and variables whose names vary according to platform and access method that are supported by Version 7 and earlier releases. They are APPCSEC, APPC_SECURE, SASSECUR, and TCPSEC. Introduced in Version 8 for Version 8 platforms is a new method for securing the SAS/CONNECT remote host and the SAS/SHARE server by means of the USER= and PASSWORD= options in selected statements. See the appropriate chapter for more information about the Version 8 implementation of USER= and PASSWORD= in selected SAS/CONNECT and SAS/SHARE statements. Version 8, however, continues to support the other security options and variables for backward compatibility.  [cautionend]
