SCA computer access

Need to do video editing, music composition, or drafting? Need Adobe Creative Suite? The computer lab on the 2nd floor (with 5 iMacs) and the 3rd floor balcony above the computer lab (with 3 iMacs) are now open for use.

Computers can be used during the normal open hours of the GCA campus: 7:30 AM – 10:00 PM.

Here's procedure you need to follow to get access: The computers do not have keyboards and mice; we will lend them to you for the term. But first you'll need to complete SFU's mandatory COVID-19 Awareness and Safe Return to Work Training and email your certificate of completion to the SCA's Corbin Saleken at corbin_saleken@sfu.ca. Once Corbin has your certificate, you can arrange a time to pickup a keyboard and mouse from him. NOTE: Corbin is only on campus twice a week, so plan ahead!

Please be respectful and share access to these computers with your fellow students, and only use them when you cannot do your work from home. Remember: we only have 8 iMacs available to use. At this point, access is first come, first served, but we will change that if required.

As always, please maintain good social distancing, wash your hands, and (for now) wear a mask.

If you have any issues with the computers or questions, email the SCA's Stefan Smulovitz at ssmulovi@sfu.ca.

For Support

If students currently enrolled have been impacted, directly or indirectly, by COVID-19, please email student_support@sfu.ca to arrange a phone call, virtual meeting, or email follow-up with a Student Services case manager. Your case manager will work with you to coordinate appropriate supports and/or solutions. Examples of concerns or circumstances could include:

  • feeling unwell
  • food and/or housing insecurity
  • difficulty coping with stress or anxiety
  • difficulties engaging academically and/or virtually
  • staying socially connected when physically distant
  • safety-related concerns

SFU's COVID-19 Impact Scale

The SFU COVID-19 impact scale identifies four distinct recovery phases, extreme, high, moderate and low, that will aid in the recovery planning and implementation as the university responds to the external decisions and indicators to either loosen or tighten the operations in an orderly and coordinated way. Check the COVID-19 impact scale HERE.
