Welcome!
We are a new biophysics group in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. Our research explores the dynamics of microbes and immune systems, using the larval fruit fly as a model organism. We use advanced microscopy methods to image whole, live animals with single-cell resolution. This approach lets us watch thousands of immune cells collectively sense and respond to growing microbial populations. Our mission is to understand, predict, and control how single-cell dynamics give rise to macroscopic immune function. In the long term, we aim to use our quantitative understanding of these processes to develop improved strategies for engineering host-microbe interactions in humans, disease-carrying insects, and other animals.
We are recruiting undergraduate and graduate students! See Contact for how to get in touch.
