Community & Alumni

The Faculty of Science presents several free events and lectures for the public each year. Events are usually based on a first-come, first-served basis unless specified.

Register your child or classroom in one of 40 plus FREE workshops held at our Burnaby campus. Classes are complement the new BC Science curriculum.

The SFU branch of this national program supports free, K-12 science education in classrooms in BC. SFU student volunteers are available to bring STEM activities to your classroom, homeschool group or community organization.

The free Starry Nights program brings thousands of star-gazers, including children and youth, to campus to peruse the night skies and learn about astronomy using the state-of-the-art Trottier Observartory and Science Courtyard.

SFU is not responsible for the supervision of children at public events.  Children should be accompanied by an adult at all times.

We've provided some fun and engaging science activities for students to do at home or in the classroom.

The seasonal activities are linked to the NEW BC Science Curriculum and are accompanied by a glimpse into the work of SFU scientists and why they love what they do.
